The Baithak

Phones down. People up.

An intimate phone-free gathering. A room where strangers slow down, conversation finds its weight, and the evening belongs to whoever is in it.

Baithak
/bai·thak/ — Hindi · Urdu

A gathering place. The room in a home where guests are welcomed, chai is poured, and conversation just happens.

Every culture has one. A sala. A salon. A baithak.

Presence takes many forms.

We're building something bigger — partnering with artists and communities who believe in the same thing we do. Phones away. People present.

Why this exists.

I've spent 30 years across India, Japan, and Vancouver. My background is in technology, which has its own pros and cons. But after years in the digital world, I noticed something that technology couldn't fix.

We're all sitting in restaurants and coffee shops, across from people we care about, and half the table is somewhere else. Scrolling. Refreshing. Missing the thing that's right in front of them.

The Baithak started as a simple question: what happens when people put their phones down and actually show up? Not just at a dinner — at a concert, a meditation, a walk, a chai session. Any moment that deserves your full presence.

I don't have all the answers. But I believe that connection matters more than connectivity. And that the best experiences happen when people are actually in the room.

— Jatin Rajvanshi, Founder

A room full of new faces.
Zero screens. Real presence.

The Baithak is a simple idea: get people in a room — or a park, a gallery, a concert hall — take away the screens, and see what happens. Spoiler — conversations get deeper, music sounds richer, and nobody checks the time.

Phone-Free

Your phone goes into a safe place. For the whole experience. Not because we're anti-technology — because the best moments happen when you're fully in them.

Real Conversation

No icebreakers. No name tags. Just a room, some chai, and the lost art of talking to people who were worth listening to all along.

For Everyone

No velvet rope. No $200 tickets. If you're curious enough to show up, you belong at the table.

Community Partnerships

We partner with artists, venues, and communities who believe in presence. Together, we create experiences that deserve your full attention.

In their own words.

"I'm committed to expanding my circle and this came along, so I said yes."

"I like how we're going back to an era that seemed more carefree and authentic."

"It's a rare opportunity to meet people without social media."

"With the world the way it has become, connection is less intentional. I value conversation and connection."

"Just looking to meet others in a stress-free environment. No expectations."

Three steps. One evening. Zero apps.

We've overthought the simple things for too long. Here's the whole playbook.

Show Up

Find the spot. Walk in. We handle the rest. You don't need to know anyone — that's the whole point.

Phones Off

Your phone goes in a pouch. It'll survive. So will you. We promise it's less scary than it sounds.

Just... Be There

Talk. Laugh. Argue about the best late-night food spot in Vancouver. Stay as long as it feels right.

Building this together.

We partner with artists, venues, and cultural organizations who believe that the best experiences happen when people are fully present.
